Being a Filipino in the eyes of a Foreigner

What has happened to the Philippines?
For several decades ago, our country has been the richest Asian country. We have been standing with our heads high and we are brave enough to conquer the world. it is a fact, we are the only Catholic dominant country in asia. We are the one's who are supposed to be going to mass every Sunday but what has happened?

For the longest period, I have observed the great abundance of Filipinos who don't know how to love their country. We have been using our country to start and finish off our journey in other. Slowly Filipinos have been slipping away from our country and never to be seen again.

We have viewed our country as a nuisance to our existence, a shame to our being but how do we really know who our  country is? It is only in the eys of the outsiders that we can truly see what we are missing.

I have watched through Facebook and video of a korean national essay about the Filipinos. It greatly touched me and strike me to the point of crying. How can I be so naive.... how can WE be so NAIVE? Our being a Catholic is senselesss. Who are we to judge our GOD when we are not even desiring a change in ourselves? Who are we to say that the politicians are cruel wehn we have been more cruel to our country than them for continuously leaving our country for that comforts of America, Paris and other countries? how can we not see the deteriorating essence of our country?

Foreigners have judge us more than we can take. We have been hurt to the point of being ashamed of being a Filipino. After all, who wants to be called as "the race of maids?" NOBODY! Therefore, we resort to abandoning our mother land. Little did we know, that we are more than what a few foreigners say we are; that we are far more appreciated than we knew. Who would have thought that we were once envied. I wouldn't believe it myself probably, if I hadn't seen this. This is a video of an essay made by a Korean National.

Fashion: Japanese Cosplay

Cosplay (コスプレ) is a Japanese subculture centered on dressing as characters from manga, anime and video games, and, less commonly, live action television shows, movies or Japanese pop music bands.
The term cosplay (pronounced kosupure in Japanese) is a contraction combining the words “costume” and “play” which accurately describes the hobby of having fun by dressing up as one’s favorite characters. Besides dressing up for public events such as anime conventions, it is not unusual for teens in Japan to gather with like-minded friends just to do cosplay. Since 1998 in Tokyo Akihabara district there is a large number of cosplay cafes, catering to otaku – anime and cosplay fans. The waitresses there dress as game or anime characters. Maid costumes are particularly popular.
Cosplay has spread across the world in recent years, joining with costuming at science fiction conventions in North America and Europe. The main difference between cosplay and costuming in the United States and Europe is that in Japan people typically dress up as characters from Japanese animated films (anime), Japanese comics (manga), or Japanese video games, as compared to dressing up as Star Trek characters or in Renaissance-era costumes. The other difference is that most costuming in the United States and Europe is centered on particular events such as conventions or festivals.
One such small niche of this field are dollers, the term for an amateur kigurumi player. These cosplayer wear masks to fully transform into their characters.
Cosplayers are often called “layers” and the otaku who photograph the layers are called cameko, short for “Camera Kozo” or “Camera Boy”. The cameko give prints of their photos to the layers as gifts.
In North American otaku culture, cosplayers at conventions often find themselves on the receiving ends of glomps, a type of high-powered hug.

Cosplay has been really widespread that it helped Japanese culture to be known outside its boundaries. The Harajuku fashion has been a topic for otakus because of the different fashion young Japanese show on streets.

Cosplay is popular even here in the Philippines. The Japanese culture had sipped in and every otaku dreams to become a cosplayer. Cosplayers vary from the different games, series, movies and manga. Alodia, a known filipina cospllayer and Animax ani-mate, has been cosplaying for a long time:

Fashion: Lee Hyori, The Trendsetter

Fashion is universal. Both men and women would have to be involved or engage into fashion. Mostly celebrities set trends for a certain time. Lee hyori is a great example of that. who is Lee hyori?

Lee Hyori is a Korean singer, actress, model. She started off as part of the K-pop girl group Fin.K.L but broke off from the group to become a solo artist and now she has since become the highest-paid Korean singer (female).  besides her undeniable talent in singing and dancing, generally in performing, Lee Hyori is also a Trend setter. Her fashion has always been different. She is bold and sexy but not the bitchy or slutty type. She wears sexy clothes that would focus on her toned abs and sexy curves.

Her simple way of dressing up gives a whole new meaning of fashion. Her chic and casual look is also a head turner. She proves that not the amount of skin determines that essence of fashion. Her full jeans and long-sleeved top below show how effortless it is for her to look sexy and fashionable too.
Her figure, I believe, makes the difference. an ordinary jeans and polo can look too expensive on her.
she can also give a sexy elegant look on simple dresses.

Finally, Lee hyori can pull off a very sexy beach/ summer look without being regarded as too sexy

To sum it up Lee hyori can pull off any fashion style.

Yes! She truly is a great performer and a great fashionista!

Now that he's back surely the summer is heating up, but more surprises seems to be in store for KPOP fans. Last August 6, 2010 another legendary artist had made her comeback. After five years, Kwon BoA is back with her Hurrican Venus Album. As expected her performance is really a match of Se7en. these contemporaries seem to be battling each other on music shows. BoA is now back like Se7en more Mature in music and in style.

Their experience surely sets them apart from other new artist. there is still more left for these two before 2ne1 (YG girl group) and Bigbang (YG Boy band) release their albums on September/ October and the closing of the year. YG will be dominating the airwaves this summer. Updates from other companies are yet to be announced but one thing is for sure, KPOP summer is a jam packed event to be watched!
